Safe Routes to School

WHO WE ARE

We’re San Mateo parents and community supporters who want to make it joyful, fun, and safe to walk, bike and roll to school together. With creativity and courage, we’re determined to make our roads accessible to active transportation. Our hope is that bike & walk routes to schools are utilized not just during school hours but offer popular routes for all to enjoy.

WHAT BIKE BUSES DO

A bike bus is an adult-led scheduled bike ride that follows a specific route and timetable. There are bike buses all over the world. By riding with the San Mateo Bike Bus you’re part of a global movement!

WHY IT MATTERS 

When kids and adults ride together, there is safety in numbers. We see the Bike Bus as a great way to promote biking in our town—in the hopes of encouraging more people to think about caring for our community, our environment, and making safer streets.
